Finding Your Landlord's RTB Number
You need your landlord's RTB registration number to claim. Here's how to find it:
- Search the RTB Public Register by your address
- If found, note the registration number (format: RT####)
- If not found, ask your landlord directly — they are legally required to register
Not registered? Your landlord is legally required to register with the RTB. If they refuse, you can report them. You may still be able to claim the credit — contact Revenue for guidance.
Important Notes
- ! You must be paying income tax for this credit to have value. If your income is below the tax threshold, the credit provides no benefit.
- ! The credit is per person, not per tenancy. Both partners can claim if jointly assessed.
- ! You can backdate claims for up to 4 previous years.
- ! Keep receipts/proof of rent payments (bank statements showing rent transfers).
